Medical Card Holders

Once again Carrigdhoun Surgery are delighted to offer GP services to medical card holders. If you are a medical card holder and would like attend the surgery please contact reception for further details.

Our Medical Card Services

If you have a medical card or doctor visit card, this allows you to see the doctor for free. This covers all usual GP care including:

  • Acute Issues
  • Check ups
  • Doctor issuing prescriptions
  • Winter vaccinations (flu and covid)
  • Chronic Disease Management including the Prevention Programme.

Services that are NOT covered under the Medical Card/Doctor Visit Card scheme:

  • Routine blood tests that are not part of the Chronic Disease Management Programme
  • Warfarin monitoring
  • Dressings
  • Travel vaccinations
  • Pre-employment medicals
  • Insurance medicals/reports
  • Medicals for legal purposes
  • Examinations related to Fitness to Drive
  • Passport/Identity reports
  • Certificates/letters in support of applications for services under Social Welfare Acts
  • Utilities reports/letters
  • Preventative services (eg. Health screening)

To arrange an appointment, please ring the practice on (051) 325130 or email us at info@carrigdhounsurgery.ie. If you are a new patient to the practice, please first register with the practice by filling in our registration form which can be found in the practice or emailed to you. 
When you are booking an appointment, it is helpful to let the admin staff know the purpose of your visit so they can allow appropriate time for your consultation.
